Here’s a patient with a foot wound on the bottom of the first metatarsal head. This is the second time this developed for this patient and he had a callous year prior. The way that we treated it is to offload the area with a surgical shoe with felt cut out and use weekly or biweekly debridement of the skin. The key to healing is staying off the foot as this patient has good blood flow. She will take some time off of work to help it heal quicker.

The cause of the wound: a callus that blistered into a wound.
